Oh, my gosh! The teeny, tiny tomato seedlings we planted have gotten so big! It’s fabulous to see all the flowers on them. That means a ton of tasty tomatoes in a few months. I can’t wait. I’m drooling thinking of them thinly sliced, layered in stacks with basil or cheese. We love to walk in the soft, warm evenings just as the pink is dusting the sky and see how they’re doing. We water at dusk to minimize evaporation. They have all night to suck up the water with their thirsty roots. We have planted all different types and colors from White Oxheart to Bloody Butcher (nice, eh?) to Chuck’s Yellow. We are not spraying them, nor are we adding any chemicals to them. Though Quicksilver Farm is not certified organic (a government-driven program which demands time and money), we are committed to living as easily and softly on Planet Earth as we can. We belive in sustainable agriculture!
