Watershed Demonstration Site

The Santa Cruz County Resource Conservation District’s Livestock and Land program provides cost share assistance to livestock owners and boarding facilities to implement projects to improve water quality. Tim at Watershed Demonstration Site These demonstration sites are living classrooms and a valuable resource to the community. They provide the opportunity for people to see firsthand the implementation process, installation techniques and real life accounts of the projects’ successes and⁄or challenges.

Tim and Nants applied for and received assistance is creating a water and composting system allowing them to keep everything on their property in an ecologically responsible fashion. They use everything their horses and other animals generated, and no run-off ends up in the Pajaro River system.

Quicksilver Farm is a demonstration site for water pollution control and manure management. There are often workshops and tours conducted on site. It serves as a resource for school and community groups to promote awareness of our diminishing agricultural legacy. Visitors are always welcome at Quicksilver Farm with prior arrangements.
